Meg here, and late with my post.
Racing Saturday night was once again as hot as the ambient temperature. Most of us have been off for two weeks, so that means broken cars have been repaired and the guys who have to decide between paying the light bill or racing, have saved enough for a pit pass.
I was excited to get the points sheet when I checked in as I had jumped from 7th to 4th–by a single point. Woo Hoo….if only for a few hours. I still approached the evening’s race with trepidation. I hadn’t put the charger on my battery–kinda need that to start the race car. And when I got ready to unload my car, I had forgotten to put the ramps on the trailer! {Smack on the forehead!} Duh…Fortunately for me, John had already arrived and put his ramps on my trailer. And, if that wasn’t enough, I had forgotten to resupply the race box with transmission fluid. I have a leak–a big one. For those who would ask why don’t I fix it? NEVER mess with something that is still working when for $3 a race, you just add more fluid. It is a racing thang, and a problem to be fixed during the off season.
Twenty-three bombers were in the feature! ACK…and because I didn’t do well enough in the heat race, I had to start closer to the back–16th! Just as I thought with new drivers and hot heads, there were wrecks! I wasn’t involved in any of them, and got to move up some. Don said there were cars rubbing against mine the entire race. I must have been too focused as I didn’t realize any of this.
One of the rough drivers had spun out, and was trying to get back to the front–OH COME ON..there are 2 laps left! Remember a couple weeks ago, I said no more? The bitch is back! I kept him down to the inside of the track where it is slower. Turn 4 he was a bit in front of me. I know I’m wicked fast down the straight away, and I passed him before the flag stand/finish line! Woot for me!!
The bad thing is the car that was in front of me, slowed way down. At this point, I don’t care if I hit him or not. {I was going to council with the old man after the race, but he blew his motor and might not be back.} I finished 11th–sad I didn’t move into the top 10, but thrilled my car is still in one piece.
I think I moved down to 5th, but hey, that’s all okay. There’s always next Saturday!

5th is still good! I need to see you race once before you quit. Wonder what are the odds I will?
Pretty good!
For you Marilyn, she will race again!
Absolutely right, Amy. I would love to race with Marilyn watching.
Worked on my new car tonight as I thought I would get to practice with it tomorrow. Nope…too much left to do. Safety stuff, actually!
