I watched the “best commercials” show on Monday night, and I’ll say, I was not impressed. Who picked those as the best? I loved that the theft retrieval trunk monkey ad was aired (though only as one of “the rest”). I thought the British VW ad with the singing dog was cute, and the South African ad where the well-endowed woman orders a burger and fries, but can’t see the fries for her boobs was funny. Oh, and the Nextel guys dancing in the office — what a hoot!
Most of the rest . . . meh. The hosts talked about how the #1 US commercial — the DarthVader VW commercial went viral immediately after it first appeared. Huh? I never saw or heard a word about it. In fact, I had never seen probably half of the 10 US ads.
All in all, I thought most of the top 20 were pretty bland. I could name a few dozen better commercials off the top of my head. But I saw a few funny ones that were new to me, and they included the great polar bear/electric car ad. That alone was worth the hour of my time.

I saw the polar bear one, too! The hubster had the remote so we didn’t watch any ont thing for long. The part that kept my attention with the polar bear commercial was the fact that the bear was so sparkling clean!
She was pretty spotless, wasn’t she? I thought it was a great commercial — got the message across without more than a few words.
I hadn’t seen the polar bear commercial.
Did the hamsters make it?
I don’t know who decides what is ‘best!’ Far different tastes than mine!
The hamsters in the car being smugly cool with all their buddies in their exercise wheels on the street? Yeah, that one made it. It was funny, too.
The polar bear as is for an electric car. She travels out of the wilderness, through the city and finally winds up in a neighborhood. Guy comes out to get in his car to leave for work, and she growls from behind. He turns, she stands up on her back legs and gives him a very sweet hug as thanks from the environment. I like it!
Yeah, I certainly wouldn’t have wasted time with the Victoria’s Secrets ads. They’re stylish, impressive, but certainly nowhere near being a “best” ad.
Guess that would have had something to do with the fact that Heidi Klum was cohost, huh?
