Road trips can either be fun. I did suffer from the “get there” syndrome terribly, especially coming home after a stress-filled week. But on the trip out we did see some notable things. Like the giant morel mushroom — I will let you decide what it really looks like! — in Nevada, Missouri, on Highway 71. I’ve read that it lights up night.

Three! dirt race tracks. Made my pound a bit faster. Buzzards, hawks, and beautiful redwing blackbirds.

Did you know there are wild day lilies growing along the highway frontage in Iowa?

In The Mayo parking lot, I saw comfort at it finest.

On the way home, I made sure we stopped at the glass house McDonald’s in Big Cabin, Oklahoma. Yes, a McDonald’s that spans across both sides of the Will Rogers Turnpike.

The mushroom? looks more like a deformed Hershey kiss to me! The parking lot comfort looks like something left over from the Beverly Hillbillys. see rust on fender well…Ahhhh, Meg! You take such interesting pics! :) )

      Thank you, Bonnie!!!
My friend and her brother would be walking, then realized I had stopped for pictures some where along the way.

Love the recliner. Hey, if you’re gonna wait a long time, might as well do it in comfort. :-)

Ugh, the turnpike McDonald’s. Can’t remember how many millions of state money went into the place — ten? maybe twenty? — but it was enough to turn my stomach. Don’t know if I could eat there.

      LOL, Marilyn!
I didn’t eat there. Lines were way too long as if they were giving food away. After the nice 60s of Minnesota, the overcrowded unwashed bodies and 80+ temps were enough to make me want to skip food.
