Last night after I turned off the sprinkler in my flower/fruit garden, I saw birds flying in from all directions. Mockingbirds, sparrows, a male Cardinal, and even a hummingbird. Some landed in the peach trees, some on the ground where water had collected in the various glasses, bowls; some to the flowers. All were seeking water.
I had never seen a bird bathe using tree leaves. The hummingbird used a tiny pink flower to drink then flew through the thick foliage of the peach tree. Sparrows and Mockingbirds shared a shallow bowl. I never truly stopped just to watch how each shared the precious resource that I take for granted.
Our lives get so busy, so wrapped up in the mundane or the petty stuff that means nothing in the end, we miss the small miracles God has given us. Those unexpected things we are gifted with when we’re quiet.

Isn’t that lovely?
I went out yesterday to listen to the grass crunch under my feet and found a volunteer cucumber plant. I transplanted it to a bed and began watering it, but don’t know if it’ll make it.
Woo Hoo for a volunteer cucumber! May it grow and prosper.
Thank you. I really needed this today. Makes me think of that old Mac Davis song….Stop and Smell the Roses.
Hey, Debbie–
Sometimes we just need a reminder. I know I needed it.
