Really! I did and I loved it. All right…whale sharks. They are the biggest fish in the ocean. Known as “Gentle Giants” I was able swim next to them until my legs gave out–which wasn’t long in 3 – 5 ft seas. Words can’t adequately describe the feeling being next to a 40 foot creature, looking them in their gold unblinking eye and know you are completely safe. (Unless YOU do something stupid!)
I must admit that my heart raced a bit when in the ocean wave turns into this:
The incredible beauty of these fish who allow small humans to interact with them is truly amazing. My first venture in the water, I had one of those surreal moments where I looked down and beneath me was a silent 40 foot creature. So close I could have touched it, yet it never touched me with dorsal fin or tail.
I have a new appreciation for sharks–I’ve always loved them! Whale sharks have my heart though. Too bad man is their top predator.

Glad you loved it so much. I got a bit freaked out by the little fishes we snorkeled with. Don’t thnk I could handle one that could eat me, even if he probably woudn’t.
Marilyn–
You would handle whale sharks just like the other sharks you’ve dealt with.
The boat ride out and while others swam were the killers.
