When I’mworking a lot, the last thing I usually want to do is cook. (The last thing I ever want to do is clean, but sometimes you have to.)
Anyway, I wind up letting Bob fend for himself and I eat frozen dinners when I’m stressed like that. My particular favorite is a Healthy Choice turkey and sweet potatoes entree. It also includes apple pie filling (yum!) and green beans and carrots.
I like green beans. I like carrots. And I don’t care what Healthy Choice says, those things in that third compartment aren’t either. They’re a mix between solid and mushy, and they taste like fermented water. No amount of salt and butter (neither very healthy choices) can make them edible. So what’s the point?
I suspect that Healthy Choice bought a lot of those three-compartment plastic dishes and had to put something in them. It might as well be rocks.

My fat-butted self has tried all those healthy options. The best? Lean Cuisine frozen pizza or french bread pizza. If you close your eyes it kinda tastes like real pizza. I eat one almost everyday at work. On the green bean subject I agree….talked to my mom and she just canned a huge green bean crop. When you get to have those home grown ones with bacon, onion and new potatoes cooked in who wants frozen mush? Some things just shouldn’t be frozen.
Oh, yumm, Deb, I agree! Every June we look forward to our first pot of freshgreen beans, new potatoes, salt pork and ham shank!!! It makes the winter worthwhile.
I’ll check out the Lean Cuisine pizza. I’ll close my eyes, too, if needed.
I have to agree with Debbie and you!
I’ve found that freezing cooked chicken tenders can be nuked quickly then added to my stash of bagged salads. Tried the veggie burger route–used them as flying saucers to entice the dogs.
Thanks for the laugh this morning.
Hm, I’ve got frozen chicken . . . never think about having it in a salad.
A few weeks ago we bought a bunch of green leaf lettuce (I think?) at Conrad’s that had just been picked a short while earlier, and it was so GOOD. I never thought lettuce actually had a taste, but I could’ve eaten that stuff all by itself.
I actually like one brand of veggie burgers — Morning Star or something like that. (I recognize the box, not the name.) Though I’m sure I could make them better myself if I tried.
The frozen green beans in the HC dinner — even the puppers won’t eat them.
