My heart aches still from the tragedy in Newton, CT, and I’ve kept those close in prayers. The Twisted Princess and I were discussing the acts of kindness flowing right now. She said that while this is a good thing, that Don and I practice this all year. I had never thought of it other than sharing we’ve been blessed and wanting to pay it forward. (I’m not tooting my own horn as that negates the meaning.)
She’s right though that we need to be nice. Play nice. Think nice. And always be on guard because there will always be those who take advantage of kindness, generosity and nice. Sad, huh? That will not stop me from being nice, if only a smile that causes crinkle lines around my eyes, or actively listening to an elderly person in the grocery store even though I’m in a hurry. Or paying a compliment to cashier who puts up with the sh*tload of grouches. There are as many ways to be nice as there are people.
But…you knew it was coming…as the Twisted Prince says, “Don’t mess with my mama.” You have no idea what is behind my nice.
Y’all have a wonderful day and pay it forward!

My grandma Jones used to say the wrinkles around your eyes made from smiling add beauty to your face.
Thanks, Jackie!
That’s a nice saying!
When do you think we have to stop using the phrase “common courtesy?” Because it’s sure not common anymore.
My mom worried for a long time that none of the lessons she taught me as a kid took, but most of them did. One was the Golden Rule. How hard is it to give someone a smile or a thank-you? Mom, Granny and Grandma would smack me from Heaven if I was rude to someone just because I wasn’t having a good day.
They would be joined by my mother too!
