I’ve always loved that song Frankie Lane recorded. It was the theme song for the TV show RAWHIDE. Now that really dates me, huh? I was only two and a half when the show aired the first season in 1959. As a little girl, I had black and white rocking horse. Whoa ;-) be it if my mother happened to let my bath run late and I heard Frankie singing. No matter what, or who, I had to be on my horse riding it to maximum the springs would work.
I remember asking for cowboy boots, hat, gun and a rope. I wanted to be like Gil Favor–Trail Boss. Why I didn’t want Rowdy Yates –Clint Eastwood, I’m not sure. Dumb kid. I know I got a cap pistol in a holster, and stole a length of cotton rope from Daddy, but I can’t recall if I got the hat. I know for sure I didn’t get the red boots!
Fast forward a few years. This year for Christmas Don gifted me the complete first season of Rawhide as well as an 8X10 picture of the cast, minus Eric Fleming–Gil Favor.
